UNLOCKING THE HIDDEN TREASURES IN EACH PERSON - Vessels of Opportunities provides opportunities for youth and families to reach their fullest potential and discover their greater purpose. Through programs of support and professional resources, we seek to empower, educate, and inspire by collaborations with other organizations to provide leadership, mentoring, character skills, social services, health related programs and other educational opportunities.

Every Saturday morning, for five months, youth participate in a 2-hour STEM/STEAM learning program. They work together on building robots, robot missions and activities that involve coding and programming facilitated by industry professionals and volunteers in the field. Participants also create posters and drawings to demonstrate the activities the robot is performing based on the problem and the solution. Youth perform team building activities, oral presentations, and participate in critical thinking, problem-solving, and innovative research to prepare for competing in statewide competitions. Our Title 1 school youth participants are part of a team that are encouraged to reach for the stars, think outside the box, and use their imagination to deal with real-life issues. Learning new skill sets, engaging in the activities and processes, while having fun to the key to unlocking their potential to explore STEM/STEAM professional careers.
NSBE Jr. Links (Partnership with the Greater Phoenix Future Engineers Chapter) Monthly, the Motivated Vessels of Possibilities (MVP) NSBE Jr. links youth participants in leadership activities, career opportunities, tours, and mentoring related to schoolwork and college preparation such as SAT/ACT practices. STEM/STEAM and computer-based activities are incorporated to ensure youth have every opportunity to be apply for colleges and universities as well as trades certification programs.
Community education sessions are held monthly for our residents to enhance the quality of life in our community. Sessions are facilitated by various professional experts at one location. Food boxes are distributed to the community every 4th Saturday of each month.
Collaboration with the Mayo Clinic, Community Engagement, Center for Health and Equity and their doctors’ partner to provide annual cancer awareness and prevention events to the community every October and programs throughout the year to share pertinent and valuable information with underserved residents. African American descents and the Latino populations have the highest cancer rate and risks documented in the state of Arizona. B.R.A.C.E.D. is an opportunity to bridge the gap of healthcare disparities and eliminate inequity for the necessary resources and services that can save lives and increase awareness of risk factors to prevent chronic and life-threatening diseases.
We collaborate with multiple partners to host an annual community outreach symposium that consist of various vendors, wellness professionals, mobile screening services, and healthy nutritional programs to a one stop facility to attract the community residents to receive valuable resources that will enhance their lives. Social and Human Services organizations as well as nonprofits all come together to provide resources and services to increase awareness of what their businesses offer to the community. Referrals are provided to sub-organizations for ongoing assistance and support. Family programs and services as well as fun, food, and raffles to ensure the community outreach experience is a positive one.
A wellness program developed for African American Churches. Body & Soul empowers members to eat 5 -9 servings of fruits and vegetables daily. The program goals include practicing good health and reducing the risk of serious illnesses in the congregation. Churches who embrace Body & Soul help their members take care of their bodies as well as their spirits. There are four Pillars for Success that consist of:
